The BMW G 310 R is undoubtedly one of the most awaited motorcycles of the year and has finally commenced production at the TVS Motor facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Engineered by BMW and manufactured by TVS, the former recently revealed prices for the G 310 R in the UK, starting at 4290 Pounds (approx. 1.8 lakh), and is expected to be competitively priced in India as well when it goes on sale here this October. In addition, the list of accessories for the G 310 R has also been revealed for the overseas markets.

As per the list, BMW Motorrad will be offering a rear rack with two top case options – a 29-litre case and 30-litre case finished in granite metallic grey. Furthermore, you get an inner bag for the top case; two seat options – a softer seat and a lower seat; centre stand, LED turn indicators and a 12-volt socket. Given the fact that the G 310 R is aimed at touring enthusiasts, the accessories seem apt. It is likely that most of these accessories will be offered in India as well and will be sold via BMW Motorrad dealerships that are expected to be operational in metros by October this year.

The BMW G 310 R is eyeing the market dominated by the KTM Duke 390 and draws power from a 313cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine tuned to produce 34bhp of power at 9500rpm and 28Nm of torque at 7500rpm. The motor is paired to a 6-speed gearbox, while dual-channel ABS is offered as standard. India could get the safety feature as optional in a bid to keep a low asking price.

BMW Motorrad states that the G 310 R has a top speed of 145 kmph on the G 310 R and a fuel efficiency of around 30.3 kmpl. Built on a tubular steel frame, the smallest BMW uses 41mm USD front forks and a monoshock setup at the rear. Braking performance comes from 300mm front and 240mm rear disc brakes, and rides on 17-inch Michelin tyres.
