Jason Wu designs anniversary collection for Atelier Swarovski

Jason Wu has designed a special collection to mark the 10th anniversary of Atelier Swarovski.

The New York-based fashion designer is known for merging classic American sportswear elements with timeless classics, with his celebrity fans including Diane Kruger, Julianne Moore, and former U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama.

As well as running his brand and helming the womenswear department at Hugo Boss, Wu has just teamed with the Austrian crystal company on a range of jewellery for fall/winter 2017, and unveiled an accompanying campaign starring model Karlie Kloss.

“I designed this collection very much with the Jason Wu woman in mind,” he told WWD of the collection. “She’s strong, sophisticated and sensual – even the campaign is quite sensual, which was shot with Karlie Kloss who is a longtime muse and friend of mine.”

In the marketing imagery, Kloss is seen gazing over her right shoulder as she models an ornate collar-style necklace, which is embellished with crystals in autumnal hues. She also wears a chunky ring on her left index finger, with the campaign styled by new British Vogue editor Edward Enninful and photographed by Barnaby Roper.

Wu’s full collection of jewellery for Swarovski will include necklaces, bracelets, and earrings, as well as a clutch bag. The designs are expected to be priced from $149 (£115) to $2,990 (£2,300) and will be available to purchase from the brand’s stores and online boutiques.

But it’s not the first time the Taiwan-born fashion star has been tapped by the crystal company. He previously designed a collection for Atelier Swarovski in 2010, and in 2012, Swarovski supported the designer in producing a film that documented the inspiration behind his resort 2013 collection.

At present, Atelier Swarovski is promoting collections with Fiona Kotur and Rosie Assoulin, while the company has also previously collaborated with Jean Paul Gaultier, Karl Lagerfeld, and Mary Katrantzou.
