In an effort to keep up with the social-savvy customer, customer relationship management tool Nimble recently announced its new Smart Contacts Widget. The browser plugin connects with your Nimble CRM account, and lets you “hover and discover people” across social platforms, blogs, and websites.

As you browse social profiles on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Foursquare, or blogs, you can use the one-click Nimble Browser button and sidebar app to import those social connections into your Nimble database.

How it Works

Let’s say you’re on a prospect’s website and see a link mentioning the company’s CEO. Using the widget, you can simply drag your mouse over her name to see if she’s already in your Nimble database. At a glance, you can view information about her and connect to her social profiles, as well as add her as a contact.  See image below.

So in one step, you bypass all the clicking, cutting, and pasting you used to have to do to get someone’s contact info into your CRM. Pretty neat, huh?

CRM Doesn’t Have to Be Hard

In an email interview Nimble President Jon Ferrara told Small Business Trends the hardest thing about running a customer relationship management platform is getting people to use it. Most of the time, he said, they’re nothing more than databases, and it’s “garbage in, garbage out.” That doesn’t make the case for widespread adoption at a company.

That was something Ferrara set out to change when he first founded Nimble in 2009, and set his course to “re-imagine customer relationship management by pioneering the world’s first Intelligent Relationship platform.”

Ferrara sees the future of CRM changing to make it more accessible and adaptable to users’ needs, adding:

“I think the future of Smart Customer Engagement is that the CRM will need to do more of the work by auto-magically building and maintaining rich social contact records with call/activity history and be able to mine that information to help business people contact the right customer at the right time to connect and win business.”

Being able to capture and make use of more of the data flying at you from social media, blogs, and websites gives your small business a substantial advantage over competitors. It provides the opportunity to develop business relationships faster, pay attention to what our contacts are doing online, and make strategic moves in marketing and sales efforts that will help close more deals.
