Yesterday River Island announced that they would be collaborating with Ashishon a small collection that will be released later this year. Ashish Gupta is a London designer who has been showing collections at LWF since 2005. His designs combine sport with sequins in a perfect fusion, taking sports-luxe to a whole new glamorous level. The River Island Design Forum has been commissioning new designers to create limited edition collections since 2012. Although the brand has brought in guest designers before, this will be their first gender-neutral collection of any sort. The collaboration is scheduled to debut during London Fashion Week in September and will exclusively be available on River Islands website.

The collection is made up of 15 pieces, ranging from dresses to outerwear and PJs, meaning we can wear the collaboration for every occasion, even in bed. One of our favourite elements of Ashish’s designs are his funny and at times provocative slogans, and it looks like he may be gracing us with some more. Tongue and cheek mottos are a theme of the new collection as fridge magnet style lettering and phrases such as ‘sick of all this chic’ and “good in bed’ (we’re guessing on the pyjamas) are combined together for a playful and quirky vibe. Gupta said, in an interview with Vogue, that the t-shirts ‘are so lol’ that he will be gifting them to his friends.

Although there are no photo’ as of yet, River Island has released four beautiful illustrations of Ashish’s designs, giving us a taste of what the collaboration has in store for our wardrobes. These images perfectly visualise Ashish’s description of the collection as ‘something lazy and a bit dreamy’ and clearly reflect the ‘easy-wear concept’.
