Welwyn Garden City residents hit by water supply problems

Homes in Welwyn Garden City have been hit by water supply problems this morning.

Affinity Water say they are now repairing a burst water main on Brownfields after receiving a number of calls from residents.

It’s thought Brownfields will be without a water supply until the repairs are completed. All properties in the surrounding area should have water, however this may be at a lower pressure than usual during peak demand whilst the repairs are on going.

Swallow Dell Primary and Nursery School has confirmed to BOB fm that they’ve had to close because of the problem.

The water company’s urging those affected not to use any electrical appliances that require a water supply, such as washing machines – and to store water for drinking if you do have a supply.

A spokesperson for Affinity has apologised for the inconvenience caused.
