Hyderabad: With a new update to search, Google has made hailing a cab from your smartphone all the more easier. On Wednesday, the firm said it would show directions and a menu of options for choosing cabs when one uses the search functionality either through an app or through a mobile browser.

This is a continuation of Google’s efforts in this direction, as it earlier enabled commuters to choose cabs from ride-hailing firms Ola and Uber from within its Google Maps app.

“Choosing the best transit option can be a task at times, our aim is to help users simplify their everyday travel. With this, users will be able to order, explore and make quick comparisons about the best estimated taxi fare directly from Google Search results on their mobile,” said Sanket Gupta, program manager, Google in a statement.

This update makes it easier for users to compare fares and availability, but to book the cabs users would need to have the ride hailing apps already installed.
