Local fashion designer Cleo Prickett will launch her debut womenswear collection at Hen’s Teeth Gallery in Dublin on Friday tonight.
After a decade of honing her tailoring and design skills at the London College of Fashion and some of the world’s leading fashion houses, Cleo returned to her family home at Durhamstown Castle, Bohermeen, to begin designing her first capsule collection in early-2018.
Her timeless designs combine contemporary tailoring with heritage fabrics to create beautiful, yet functional luxury pieces.
The full collection is made in Ireland and combines ready-to-wear with several made-to-order pieces.
“I have pushed myself to achieve the levels of perfection of the fashion houses I worked at before, and I’m so excited to be ready to launch my first collection. My experience in London gave me an incredible grounding in luxury and when I began to design this collection in my father’s old studio, I became very aware of my personal heritage in marrying functionality with beauty, as my father did with his artisan kitchens,” said Cleo.

Transformability is central to Cleo’s designs: cleverly executed buttons turn a checked fine wool jacket to a bolero and wide legged trousers into cropped pants; a Japanese-inspired Irish linen shirt can easily be worn with a collared shirt underneath or with a belt to nip it in; and, a classic high waisted skirt can be buttoned down to wear with a t-shirt or buttoned up to wear with a shirt for a more formal look.Cleo initially studied design and pattern cutting at Sallynoggin College of Further Education, before going on to Womenswear Fashion Design at the London College of Fashion. Cleo has worked as a designer for some of the world’s leading fashion houses, starting at Mary Katrantzou. She then worked at Roland Mouret, assisting the Head of Womenswear in designing the ready-to-wear collections.
The launch party takes place at Hen’s Teeth Gallery and lifestyle store on Fade Street, between 6pm and 9pm.
The collection will be available to buy at the launch and also at the pop-up in Hen’s Teeth between 11am and 7pm on Saturday.
A selection will also be available in Atrium, Powerscourt Townhouse.
