Why create a lifestyle blog?
Start a blog right away for so many great reasons! Let’s talk about the obvious one first – money. It is possible to make money blogging. Within a few short years, I had a significant blog income, and after about five years, I had a full-time income and could quit my job! In today’s world, building a blog quickly is easier than ever. This is good news for you. I didn’t have Instagram, or even really Facebook at the time I started. Now, you have so many avenues to build a blog audience quickly! The best part is that because I make a living from my blog, I am able to stay home with my babies and work from here!
Don’t let anyone try to convince you that blogging is a simple way to make money quickly. Although it requires a lot of effort, I still consider it to be one of the best businesses for a student, stay-at-home mom, or anyone else! can begin due to the low cost of starting and unlimited potential. I’ve been able to live a life I only dreamt about when I was waiting tables at a restaurant 12 years ago. Every day, I am able to wake up and do whatever I want! So, are you prepared to launch your blog? Print this pdf checklist to help make sure you complete all of the steps!
Step 1: Select a topic for your blog
What topics pique your interest? Blogging about what interests you is very important. If you like the topic, and are interested in what you’re writing about, your readers will pick up on that. You’ll also enjoy doing it more and that is especially important if you’re going to stick with it.
Even if you’re blogging as a business, it should still be fun and something that you enjoy. If you start out writing for the sole purpose of making money, people will see straight through that.
What are you good at?
A blog is the best place to share your expertise with the world if you believe it is necessary! Do you excel in the kitchen? Start a food blog! Do your friends frequently ask you for style tips? Perhaps fashion blogging is the way to go.
People will flock to your blog if you can offer advice and generally assist them.
Step 2: choose the proper platform
WordPress to the letter. I won’t even discuss other options because I am so passionate about WordPress as a blogging platform. WordPress is the best blog platform for the following reasons: Great for beginners
There are many free themes available. Easily adaptable, even if you don’t know how to code There are numerous free plugins that simplify almost everything. Since WordPress is the most widely used platform, there are a lot of resources available to assist you if you get stuck. Why not a free platform?
There are many reasons why you should avoid using a free platform for your blog. Among them are:
Some free platforms put their own ads on your site
You won’t be able to make any money or place ads on your site on the majority of free platforms. There is virtually no support available and even something as simple as a design change warrants a cost (thus becoming not free)
You will have an ugly URL, such as www.yourblog.blogspot.com
Most importantly, you don’t own your blog when it’s on a free platform – it’s literally like building your house on land that you don’t own
Let me return to that final point. You are not the owner of the blog or the URL if it is hosted on a free platform. This means (and it has happened before) that your blog could be shut down at the drop of a hat, for any reason they see fit. Some blogs have been shut down because the blogger was working with a company that the platform owners don’t like. You shouldn’t give your blog to someone else just to save five dollars a month.
Step 3: snag your URL or domain name
Click this page to learn how to set up HostGator hosting for your existing domain if you already own one. Okay, it’s time to get a domain name now that you know what your blog will be about and are ready to set up your WordPress blog. This will be the address of your website, which is www.YOURSITE.com. How to pick a domain name: Keep it as brief as possible. The shorter it is, the easier it is for people to remember and type.
Make sure it conveys the message of your blog. Include something about yourself or the message of your blog in the URL, even if you try to keep it short. Never steal. When it comes to your blog, it is best not to copy someone else’s idea. I also don’t recommend using brand names in your URL.
Step 4: Get hosting
It’s time to go to HostGator and get your domain and hosting by clicking this link. As a HostGator affiliate, if you use my links to save up to 60% on your plan, I get a commission. I could be an affiliate for any company, but I choose HostGator due to their incredibly low costs and awesome 24/7 customer support. For new blog owners, their one-click WordPress installation is ideal.
