India Funding Roundup: A Home Tutoring Marketplace, Rickshaw Advertising Startup, and More

WorkIndia
Recruitment marketplace WorkIndia founded by a group of IIT/ IIM alumni recently announced Wednesday that it had secured an undisclosed sum in funding from Beenext, a Singapore-based early stage technology fund. WorkIndia has developed a geo-positioning based technology product for automating recruitment in the blue/grey collar segment. Founded in 2015 by Ajay Kumar, Jatin Jakharia, Nilesh Dungarwal, and Moiz Arsiwala, the startup had raised $500,000 (roughly Rs. 3.3 crores) in October 2015, and plans to use the latest funding round to enhance its technology to automate the employer-employee matching process.

FlipClass
Bengaluru-based FlipClass which connects tutors and students through the platform, has reportedly raised $1 million (roughly Rs. 6.7 crores) from S Chand and Company Pvt Ltd and early stage VC firm Blume Ventures. Founded in 2013, the startup had previously raised funds from online fundraising platform LetsVenture, and reportedly has 4,000 students and 10,000 tutors on its platform.

WithMe
Gurgaon-based Tripbaaz Technologies, creators of WithMe, a social fashion discovery platform have reportedly raised $250,000 (roughly Rs. 1.7 crore) in angel funding. Founded in 2015, the startup has apps for Android and iOS, and reportedly plans to add AI and personalisation features.

Gapoon
Bengaluru-based home services provider Gapoon has reportedly raised Rs. 1.2 crores in angel funding. Founded in 2015, the company provides an Web and app-based bookings for home services like cleaning, electricians, plumbing, pest control, and carpentry, and reportedly plans to use the funds to grow its subscription-based services.

eSwasthya
Ahmedabad-based medicine delivery service eSwasthya has reportedly raised an undisclosed amount of seed investment. The website currently serves in Ahmedabad, Baroda, and Nashik, and plans to its funding to expand its operations to other cities in Gujarat, apart from Mumbai and Pune.

ProximiT
Pune-based Proximit Media, which runs a rickshaw-based proximity advertising network, has reportedly raised $150,000 (Rs. 1 crore) in early-stage funding through crowdfunding platform 1Crowd. The startup reportedly plans to use the funds to expand its footprint in Pune and establish presence in other cities including Mumbai.
