KENNEWICK, Wash. – Police are investigating an incident in which two people have been suspected of building an explosive device outside of a local hardware store.
Kennewick police received a call Wednesday about two people going to a hardware store Monday to purchase materials that are common for building an explosive device.
Reports said the suspects did not get the specified materials.
Detectives traced the call to a pay phone with what was discovered to be a sleeping bag on top of the phone booth located right outside of the hardware store.
Kennewick police said Richland Police Department’s bomb squad assessed the item and found it to be harmless.
