Northwestern State University’s Office of Electronic and Continuing Education will offer courses on web design and ceramics next week.
Web design will be taught on June 12-16 from 8 a.m. until noon in Room 227 of the new wing of the Center for Creative and Performing Arts. The fee is $225. The minimum age for the class is 10.
This course will teach how to design a responsive and modern website without writing any code. Students will be able to design a personal logo, include personal photos, social media integration and even a contact form. Participants will learn how to create web pages with a teacher’s guidance and will include hands-on activities. Video tutorials will also be available during this course. Participants are required to bring a jump drive.
Beginning ceramics will begin June 15 and last until Aug. 17. The class will be held each Thursday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in Room 113 the new wing of the Center for Creative and Performing Arts.
The fee for the class is $125 plus a $20 material fee paid directly to the instructor on the first day of the course or $100 plus a $20 material for children age 5-17. Elementary school-aged children must be accompanied by an adult. Beginning Ceramics is an introduction to working with clay. The student will learn hand-building and sculptural techniques, as well as work on the potter’s wheel. There will also be room for intermediate and advanced students to take the class and use the art facilities during the class time.
