The Felty Farm, 16227 Windermere Circle in Southgate, is hosting an open butterfly garden from noon-4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27.

There will be a monarch waystation, perennial garden and Koi pond. Also on hand will be artists and vendors with items such as natural soaps, lotions, soy candles, bird baths, primitive items and things for dogs and cats. Elvira, a dog that was recently in news for being abused and nursed back to health by a local animal rescue.

Appearing at the event will be representatives from the PAWS Clinic, Lucky Day Animal Rescue, NBS Animal Rescue and Wonderland Rabbit Rescue. These groups are seeking donations to help continue their work of caring for animals. Violinist Annette DeMaggio will be there to provide the music.

The following are each group’s wish list:

• NBS Animal Shelter is in need of bleach, laundry detergent, bath towels, paper towels, spray cleaner, gallon lock zip bags, pee pads, pill pockets, dry dog food, canned dog food, dog treats, dry cat food, 6-foot leashes, collars and gas gift cards.

• Wonderland Rabbit Rescue is in need of vinegar, garbage bags (white kitchen and 30 gallon black yard). hand sanitizer, paper towels, laundry detergent (no colors of perfumes), dish washing soap hand, not machine), brooms, dustpans, little sweep brooms, scrub brushes, kids plastic toys (keys, rattles, hard plastic balls, etc.), pillow cases, sheets, fabric (fleece and denim), towels, gas gift cards, pet shop gift cards and tractor supply gift cards.

• Lucky Day Animal Rescue is in need of paper plates, Clorox clean up wipes, paper towel, canned cat food, KMR, replacement scratch pads, cat treast,cat toys, catnip, bleach, blue Dawn dish soap, fleece blankets, pee pads, litter and Windex.
