Intex’s Aqua S7 is a surprising addition to the budget segment.
Smartphone cameras have improved tremendously and we are not referring only to the high end or mid-range smartphones. The latest crop of budget smartphones are no longer about blurry images and washed out colours that looked bets on the display of the phone or at bets on social media posts. Nowadays, you can save them on your laptop and they look as rich and crisp as some of the point and shoot cameras.
Intex’s Aqua S7 is a surprising addition to the budget segment and its camera is one of the reasons if not the most important reasons for it. It struggles in low-light but shots taken in bright light puts it at par with the likes of Redmi 3 Prime.
The phone comes with a 13-megapixel camera backed by LED flash. The camera app looks like most other camera apps. The camera offers very few modes such as Picture in picture and Panorama. There are few live filters with the preview option to see what an image would look like in each of them.
The area where it struggles is the ability to shed light on the darker areas in the background properly.Flower
The camera impresses with its ability to pull out details and colours well in daylight shots. The flower doesn’t feel lost in the dark green colour of the leaves. The area where it struggles is the ability to shed light on the darker areas in the background properly.
The colour has been captured well.Food
This is a close up taken under indoor lighting. The lack of macro mode, makes getting the focus right from really close almost impossible. Interestingly, the colour has been captured well, but because the focus is limited to a very small area the image looks blurry.
The camera is clearly not ideal for low-light conditions.Low-light
This is a low-light shot taken under white light. The camera is clearly not ideal for low-light conditions. Even without zooming into the image, we noticed a significant amount of noise in this shot. Even the colours on the statue and the wall behind it look a bit washed out.
In this landscape shot colours in the pavement and the building look brilliant.Landscape
This is where the camera impresses the most. In this landscape shot colours in the pavement and the building look brilliant. Even the green in the trees look closer to the actual green colour, instead of a darker version of it. The objects in the area under the shade look a bit darker, though. The face of the person on the right has been completely blurred in this case.
The amount of detail captured here is impressive for a budget smartphone camera.Sky
The blue in the sky looks realistic and so does the green in the tree cover beneath it. The amount of detail captured here is impressive for a budget smartphone camera. The folds in the flag are also clearly visible which is impressive.
