Bridal designer Liz Martinez was the talk of the wedding world last year as she became everyone’s ‘one to watch’ with her highly feminine, ultra contemporary take on the traditional white dress.
The Tel-Aviv based couturier is another of the bridal-tide-turning designers to come out of Israel in recent years, joining the likes of the now iconic Inbal Dror, Berta and Galia Lahav, among others.
Referred to by many as the ‘Cinderella’ of the Israeli bridal design world, Liz’s humble beginnings from dress-making in a cramped corner of her mother’s city apartment to becoming one of the most lusted-after bridal designers in the world, form the foundation of the designer’s business practises.
She is a vocal supporter of young girls and women in the industry, seeing her own success as a “do or die” situation.
“My first studio was in fact a corner in a small room in my mom’s apartment,” says the designer, “When the room got a little too crowded I moved up to the rooftop of our building and soon after evolved into a studio downtown.
Today, I am proud to say that my team and I work out of a large, yet very warm, growing fashion house and that my gowns can be found in several countries around the world.”
For 2018, Liz has continued to cement her status as a creator of unique, show-stopping designs for a modern style-conscious bride. Her designs are influenced – but not determined – by new trends, so that the focus of each design remains on timeless, feminine silhouettes that form the “quintessential expression” of a woman’s “inner beauty and seductive nature.”
